Your health information, plainly.

This policy is published by The Space in Between LLC, which operates My Own Manual, under Washington’s My Health My Data Act and similar laws in other states. It applies to consumer health data: information that is linked or reasonably linkable to you and that identifies your past, present, or future physical or mental health status. It sits alongside our general Privacy Policy.

The consumer health data we collect

• Which manuals you buy. Each manual addresses a topic such as depression, grief, insomnia, or anxiety, so a purchase can indicate a health condition you are working on. We keep it with your e-mail address and account.
• What you write in a manual. Your answers to its exercises, reflections, and logs, which may describe your health, symptoms, history, or circumstances.
• Your progress. Which modules of a manual you have marked complete.

We do not collect diagnoses or records from any health care provider, precise location, biometric or genetic data, or data about you from other companies.

Why we collect it and how we use it

• To give you access to the manuals you bought, and only those.
• To save what you write so it is there when you come back, on any device.
• To process your payment, and a refund if you ask for one.
• To answer you when you write to us, and to act on the requests described below.
• To keep the transaction records that tax and accounting law require.

We do not use it for advertising or marketing, to build a profile of you, or for any purpose not listed here. We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not use geofencing of any kind.

Where it comes from

• Directly from you: at checkout, and in what you type into a manual.
• From our payment processor, confirming that a purchase was completed or refunded.

Sharing, and who handles it for us

We do not share consumer health data with any third party or affiliate, and we do not sell it. It is handled only by the service providers that run the site on our behalf, under contracts that limit them to doing that:

• Payment processing (Stripe): the name of the manual and edition you buy, with your e-mail address. Stripe’s receipt e-mail names the manual.
• Database and hosting (Supabase, Vercel): your account, purchases, and progress. What you write is encrypted before it is stored, with a key held separately from the database.

Sign-in e-mails (sent through Brevo) and our visit counting (Cloudflare Web Analytics) never receive consumer health data: sign-in e-mails name no manual, and visits are not counted on any page for an individual manual or inside one.

Your rights, and how to use them

You can, at any time and at no cost:

• Confirm and access. Download everything we hold about you from your library, using Download everything, or ask us for a copy and for the list of every service provider that has handled your data.
• Delete. Close your account from your library, which deletes your written answers and your sign-in straight away. Purchase records are kept only in the reduced form that tax and accounting law requires.
• Withdraw consent. Closing your account withdraws your consent and ends all collection. You can also write to us to withdraw it.

Or write to privacy@myownmanual.com. To protect you, we act on requests from the e-mail address on the account, or after confirming you control it. We respond within thirty days. If we cannot do what you ask, we will explain why, and you can appeal by replying with the word “Appeal”. A different person will decide within forty-five days and tell you the outcome and the reasons. If the appeal is denied, you can contact the attorney general in your state; in Washington, at atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.

Consent

We ask for your consent to collect and use this data, separately from agreeing to our terms, before every purchase. We do not collect it without that consent, and we will ask again before using it for any purpose not listed here.
