My Own Manual is run by The Space in Between LLC, Pocatello, Idaho. This page explains what the site collects, why it collects it, who else touches it, and how to make us delete it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we collect

Your e-mail address

There are no passwords on this site. You sign in with a one-time link sent to your address, so we hold that address to let you back in and to send your receipt.

What you bought

For each purchase we store the manual, the edition, the amount, the date, the payment status, and the reference Stripe gives the transaction. We need this to know which manuals to open for you and to keep proper accounts.

What you write inside a manual

The exercises save as you go, so your answers are there when you come back. They are stored against your account and nothing else. They are not read by us, not analyzed, not used to improve anything, not used to train any model, and not shared with anyone.

Ordinary server records

Like any website, ours records requests, which includes IP addresses and browser information. These are kept briefly for security and for fixing faults.

What we deliberately do not collect

• Card numbers. Payment happens on Stripe’s own pages and card details never reach our servers.
• Passwords. There are none to lose.
• Your name, address, or phone number, unless you put them in an e-mail to us.
• Anything from advertising pixels, conversion trackers, or social media buttons. There are none on this site, and there will not be.

Why this page is careful about health

A page address on this site can say something private about you. Someone reading Room to Doubt is reading about OCD. Someone reading Enough is reading about an eating disorder. That makes an ordinary web address a piece of health information, and it changes how the site is built:

• Manual and reader pages send no referrer, so the page you were on does not travel with you when you click a link away from the site.
• Reader pages, your library, and your saved answers are never cached and are excluded from search engines.
• No analytics of any kind runs inside a manual. Once you are reading, nothing about which pages you open or how long you spend leaves your browser.
• We do not use advertising pixels or conversion trackers, and we will not add one.

Cookies

The site sets the minimum it can.

Strictly necessary, always on

• Sign-in. Once you sign in, a session cookie keeps you signed in. It exists only for that. Signing out clears it.
• Small preferences kept on your device. Whether the opening animation has already played this visit, and your cookie choice if you made one. These sit in your browser and are never sent to us.

Why there is no cookie banner

Because there is nothing to ask you about. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device, and does not collect personal data. There is no advertising network involved and no profile built about you. A banner asking permission for something that never touches your device would be theater.

Two limits we put on that counting, because of what this site is about:

• It does not run inside a manual. Reader pages are excluded entirely, so what you are working through is not counted anywhere.
• On the public pages it tells us how many people looked at a manual and where they came from, which is how we decide what to write next. Cloudflare is the company that already delivers this site to you, acting for us and not for itself.

Who else touches your information

We use as few companies as we can, and each one is given only what it needs:

• Stripe processes payments and holds the card details we never see. Stripe is the controller of its own payment data and has its own privacy policy.
• Supabase stores the database and sends the sign-in links.
• Our hosting provider serves the site and keeps short-lived request logs.
• Cloudflare delivers the site and counts visits to the public pages, as above.

None of them is permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in US state privacy law.

How long we keep things

• Your written answers: until you delete them or close your account.
• Your account and e-mail: until you ask us to delete it.
• Purchase records: kept after deletion where tax and accounting law requires it, reduced to the transaction facts. We cannot delete a record we are required to keep.
• Server logs: a short rolling window.

What you can ask us to do

Whatever state or country you are in, and whatever your local law happens to be, you can ask us to:

• tell you what we hold about you
• send you a copy of it
• correct it
• delete it
• stop using it

Write to privacy@myownmanual.com. We will answer within thirty days, and we will not treat you differently for asking. You can delete your saved answers yourself at any time by clearing the boxes inside a manual.

If you are in California, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you have specific rights under the CCPA and CPRA, or the GDPR, and this is how you exercise them. EEA and UK residents may also complain to their data protection authority. We hold your information in the United States.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. Your written answers are protected at the database level so that one account cannot reach another’s rows, and the keys that could bypass that never leave our servers. No system is perfect, and we would rather say that plainly than promise otherwise.

This is not a medical record

Buying a manual does not make you a patient and does not create a clinician relationship. Because we are not providing health care, what you write here is not a medical record and is not covered by HIPAA. It also means it is not attached to your care anywhere else. We treat it as carefully as we would a record, because it deserves that whether or not a law says so.

Age

This site is sold to adults. Do not buy or use it if you are under 18. Several manuals are written for a parent to use on behalf of a child, and those are still bought and read by the adult. If we learn we hold information from a child, we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will date the change at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, e-mail account holders. We will not make a quiet change that widens what we do with your writing.
